Confirmed cases in the United States climbed to six million on Sunday after many Midwestern states such as Iowa, North Dakota, South Dakota and Minnesota reported record one-day increases in new infections.  Global coronavirus infections soared past 25 million, as countries tightened restrictions to halt the health crisis that has upended life for most of humanity.
