FIR registered against PDM Gujranwala jalsa management over violation of coronavirus SOPs: sources

The FIR, registered in Civil Line police station, nominated PML-N leaders Khurram Dastagir, Chaudhry Mehmood Bashir, Salman Khalid Butt, and more than 100 unidentified people, sources said. According to sources, the FIR was lodged for violating coronavirus SOPs and blocking the roads. On Friday, the PDM held its first anti-government public rally in Gujranwala's Jinnah Stadium, with an approximate turnout of 50,000-60,000. Sindh Police was pressurised to arrest Captain Safdar, Muhammad Zubair claims

Photo: Geo.tv/Screengrab Police were put under "extreme pressure" to arrest Captain Safdar, Maryam Nawaz's Spokesperson and senior PML-N leader Mohammad Zubair said, quoting Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah. Captain Safdar, Nawaz Sharif's son-in-law and Maryam Nawaz's spouse, was arrested early on Monday by Sindh Police for, among other charges, allegedly violating the sanctity of the Quaid-e-Azam's Mazar (also called Mazar-e-Quaid).  The sanctity of the Mazar-e-Quaid is protected by The Quaid-i-Azam’s Mazar (Protection and Maintenance) Ordinance, 1971, which explicitly  forbids political activities  within the premises of the mausoleum.  “Murad Ali Shah personally confirmed to me his police had nothing to do with this. Capt Safdar arrested from Karachi hotel, says Maryam

  PML-N vice-president Maryam Nawaz tweeted early Monday morning that her husband retired Captain Mohammad Safdar had been arrested by the police from their hotel in Karachi. "Police broke my room door at the hotel I was staying at in Karachi and arrested Capt Safdar," Maryam said via tweet. According to Maryam, she was sleeping when the police allegedly "barged in".
