  NEW DELHI: Protests sparked in India after the family of a woman gang raped in in the Indian district of Hathras revealed that the police cremated the body of the 19-year-old without their consent. Abhishek Mathur, an Indian journalist who had seen the cremation from a distance, told the  BBC  that the police kept the family and media away from the funeral pyre. The victim’s brother was quoted by the  BBC  that police officials were pressurising the family to cremate the woman immediately. He added that the police took her body after the family refused to bow into the pressure. "We begged them to let us bring her body inside the house one last time, but they didn't listen to us," the woman's brother was quoted as saying by the  Indian Express . Police did not offer an explanation but multiple relatives protested against the 3 am cremation, saying they wanted the body to lie at the family home for a time so absent loved ones could return to pay their respe...

  Pakistan’s current account recorded back to back surpluses of $508 million in July and $297 million in August, the State Bank of Pakistan said on Wednesday. The current account is a key means of measuring the health of the economy. It records dollar transactions with the rest of the world. In Pakistan’s case, it is usually in deficit or loss as the country spends more dollars than it earns. But data released by the State Bank shows that the combined surplus for July and August was $805 million, while last year, these two months combined recorded a negative balance of $1.2 billion. This is the fourth time the current account balance has reported a surplus since October 2019. Surpluses were recorded in October 2019, May 2020, July 2020 and August 2020. These surpluses could be attributed to low import bills and a rise in the number of remittances sent back home by overseas Pakistanis. ISLAMABAD: An accountability court on Wednesday indicted former president Asif Zardari and ex-prime minister Yousuf Raza Gilani in the Toshakhana reference and declared former premier Nawaz Sharif a proclaimed offender over his continued absence from the proceedings. In March, the NAB had filed a reference with the Accountability Court against them on violation of rules of Toshakhana that caused a heavy loss to the national exchequer. The reference has also named Omni Group CEO Khawaja Anwar Majid and his son Khawaja Abdul Ghani Majid. More to follow.

CAIRO: Terming it as the main starting point of the kingdom's proposed Arab Peace Initiative, Saudi Arabia's King Salman told US President Donald Trump in a phone call on Sunday that the kingdom was eager to achieve a fair and permanent solution to the Palestinian issue, the state news agency reported. The leaders spoke by phone following the historic US-brokered accord last month under which the United Arab Emirates agreed to become the third Arab state to normalise ties with Israel after Egypt and Jordan. KARACHI: The Sindh government prepared its standard operating procedures (SOPs) and recommendations on reopening schools, a few days before a meeting of the education ministers will decide when to reopen educational institutes. Urdu Translation ´عبداللہ بن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما نے نبی اکرم  صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم  سے اسی مفہوم کی حدیث روایت کی ہے` اس میں جریر نے  «كان لا يستتر من بوله»  کہا ہے، اور ابومعاویہ نے  «يستتر»  کی جگہ  «يستنزه»   ” وہ پاکی حاصل نہیں کرتا تھا “  کا لفظ ذکر کیا ہے۔ English Translation Narrated Ibn Abbas: A tradition from the Prophet ﷺ conveying similar meaning. The version of Jarir has the wording: "he did not cover himself while urinating. " The version of Abu Muawiyah has the wording: "he did not safeguard himself (from urine). "
